The Chinmaya Mission was formed in 1953 in order to spread the ancient teachings of Vedanta, the logic of spirituality, to people all around the world. Today, the Chinmaya Mission has over 250 centres around the world, thousands of members, over 200 Swamiji’s and Brahmacharis, all working to fulfil the Mission’s motto: “To give maximum happiness to the maximum number for the maximum time”.
Vedanta, the core of Hindu philosophy, is the universal science of life, relevant to all people whatever their faith. The aim of the Mission is to impart this timeless science and infuse its members with dynamic wisdom through further knowledge of the Self. This dynamism can be seen in the hundred’s of schools, hospitals and rural upliftment projects the mission funds and oversees.
Chinmaya Mission Calgary was established in 1982 with the help of Smt. Sharadamma Rao and Shri. Ramakrishna Rao. Chinmaya Bala Vihar for children and Chinmaya Study Groups for adults are programs conducted weekly, throughout the year, at our own Ashram – Chinmaya Giridhar. Jnana yajnas are conducted annually by various centers Swamins & Brahmacharins visiting Calgary.
